Making of the puppet
A puppet for stop-motion animation
We created a puppet that will be used for stop-motion animation, with a metal internal skeleton, known as a ball & socket armature, a skirt with a wire internal structure, and on the other hand, legs that can be swapped out for the skirt, allowing us to animate the character without the skirt, opening up new possibilities. José Antonio Picazo modeled the head in 3D based on the design we provided, and we printed it using a 3D printer with resin to achieve high resolution and a smooth texture. The wardrobe was designed by Paula Jiménez Bueno, who took care of dressing the puppet.

Designs for the posters
The universe had to be very colorful, with vibrant and saturated colors, a distinctive characteristic of the pop art movement. From there, we created a series of sets to immerse the character in an imaginary world, one that was unique to the character with references to the old science fiction illustrations of the 70s, like Amazing Stories, Science Fiction, etc. We created a floor with reddish sand, populated with colorful plants native to a fantastical planet, which we shaped like lollipops resembling the shape of Llaneia's head, just like her distinctive Moon. For the posters, we held an intense photo shoot where we finally placed all the constructed elements, carefully lit them, and built a unique universe in every shot. Llaneia had to be a powerful, brave character, an empowered woman in her own world. We tried different angles, postures, and expressions until we achieved the desired result.

Poster unveiling
Llaneia throughout the city
After the official poster presentation, images of our puppet flooded every corner of the city of Albacete and its International Film Festival, Abycine.
Project Description
Llaneia is a character created for the International Film Festival of Albacete, Abycine, a character that represents the festival. For its 26th edition, the organization sought a different Llaneia, a character they could finally touch and see act on the big screen, just like so many actors and actresses who have passed through the festival’s screens. This is how they crossed paths with us, to build a stop-motion puppet with a metal internal skeleton and ball and socket joints.
